Muslim Soulmate Australia

Privacy Policy

Last Updated 11/04/2025

At Muslim Soulmate Australia (MSA), your privacy, dignity, safety, and personal boundaries are important to us. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, and protect information in connection with our website, events, and activities.

MSA is a community-based platform that provides opportunities for Muslims to meet and communicate with one another in a respectful environment. MSA does not provide a Rishta, matchmaking, marriage-brokering, or partner-placement service. MSA provides a platform and facilitates events where participants may meet, communicate, and discuss matters relevant to their own decision-making.

1. Information We Collect

MSA generally collects information that is reasonably required to register and administer our events and activities.

This may include:

  • Name and contact details

  • Age and other basic registration information

  • Event registration and attendance details

  • Information required to administer event participation

  • Communication between the participant and MSA regarding an event

  • Mahram or guardian details where a participant voluntarily provides them as part of an MSA process

  • Technical information associated with the use of our website or online registration systems, where applicable

MSA does not seek to collect detailed personal information about participants for the purpose of matching them with another person.

Participants should only provide information that they are comfortable sharing and that is relevant to their participation in an MSA event or activity.

2. How We Use Your Information

Information collected by MSA is used primarily to:

  • Register participants for MSA events

  • Organise and administer events

  • Confirm attendance and participation

  • Communicate event-related information, schedules, changes, and updates

  • Manage event logistics and administration

  • Respond to enquiries

  • Maintain appropriate records of MSA activities

  • Address administrative, safety, or legal matters where necessary

MSA does not use participant information to provide a Rishta or matchmaking service and does not select, recommend, endorse, or guarantee any participant as a potential spouse.

MSA provides the platform and opportunity for participants to meet. Any decision to communicate further or pursue a relationship is entirely the responsibility of the individuals involved and, where applicable, their families or Mahrams.

3. MSA Does Not Share Participant Information

MSA does not sell, rent, distribute, or otherwise share participants’ personal information with other participants, members of the public, or third parties for matchmaking or other purposes.

Participant information collected by MSA is not even provided to MSA volunteers simply because they are volunteers. Access to information is restricted to what may be reasonably required to perform an authorised MSA administrative function.

MSA will only disclose information where there is a legitimate and necessary reason to do so, such as:

  • Where required by law or a lawful authority

  • Where necessary to address a serious safety, security, fraud, or misuse concern

  • Where necessary to protect the rights, safety, or wellbeing of an individual or MSA

  • Where the participant has specifically provided consent for a particular disclosure

4. Information Shared Between Participants

MSA provides an environment in which participants may voluntarily speak with and learn about one another.

MSA does not control, record, verify, or take responsibility for information that participants voluntarily disclose to one another during an event, meeting, conversation, or other interaction.

Participants are responsible for exercising their own judgement when deciding what personal information they wish to disclose.

Participants should consider carefully before sharing information such as:

  • Home address

  • Workplace or work location

  • Personal telephone number

  • Social-media accounts

  • Family information

  • Financial information

  • Identification documents

  • Other private or sensitive information

Once a participant voluntarily provides personal information directly to another participant, MSA cannot control how that recipient may subsequently use or retain that information.

5. Respect for Personal Boundaries

Participation in an MSA event does not give anyone permission to pursue, locate, investigate, or contact another participant outside the agreed MSA process.

Participants are expected to respect the privacy, dignity, and personal boundaries of others.

Participants must not use information obtained during an MSA event or interaction to:

  • Approach another participant at their workplace or home

  • Locate or investigate another participant

  • Contact another participant through social media without their consent

  • Contact another participant’s family, friends, colleagues, or employer without appropriate consent

  • Continue contacting someone who has clearly indicated that they do not wish to continue communication

  • Confront, pressure, intimidate, or harass another participant following an event or meeting

A participant’s decision not to continue communication or pursue a potential relationship must be respected.

MSA may restrict or refuse future participation where conduct is considered inappropriate, threatening, harassing, intrusive, or inconsistent with the purpose and values of MSA.

6. Participant Responsibility

MSA provides the platform and event environment; however, participants remain responsible for their own decisions, interactions, conversations, and conduct.

MSA does not guarantee the accuracy, honesty, completeness, intentions, character, suitability, or background of any participant.

Participants are responsible for making their own enquiries and decisions and should exercise appropriate caution when communicating with another person.

MSA does not take responsibility for private conversations or information voluntarily exchanged between participants outside information that MSA itself collects or controls.

7. Data Security

MSA takes reasonable steps to protect information held by MSA from unauthorised access, misuse, loss, or disclosure.

However, no online system or electronic communication method can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Participants should therefore exercise discretion when providing personal information, particularly information that they would not want another individual to retain or use.

8. Access & Correction

Participants may contact MSA to request access to or correction of personal information that MSA holds about them, subject to applicable privacy requirements.

9. Cookies

MSA may use cookies or similar technologies where applicable to support website functionality and improve the user experience. Participants may disable cookies through their browser settings.

10. Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time to reflect changes to MSA’s activities, processes, or applicable requirements.

The latest version will be made available through the appropriate MSA communication channels.
